Description
I had over 60 of these at one time. I was into aircraft fabrication, restoration, building and repair and used these 10# shot bags to accurately hold down templates onto very expensive Alclad aluminum sheets to trace patterns onto sheet aluminum. They are old school 60 oz. canvas bags, sealed tight with triple stitching & reinforced corners, and filled with 10#'s of lead bird shot. So you get absolutely the max. weight in a minimal space or area. They are 9" X 10", and because of the high density bird shot lay only 1/2" thick when shot is evenly distributed.Like I said these are Old School - Old World craftsmen's style and I can't find them anywhere anymore. The newer version of these lofting weights use a lighter weight alloy metal fill, or sand and for the same weight & "Holding" power, the bags are 3 X bigger which gets in the way.
Since they were my livelihood, I took excellent care of them, just like all my aircraft tools, so no oil stains or excessive dirt, not tossed on floor for storage but kept in drawers in a special wheeled cart due to the
cumulative
weight of the 30-60 bags . Very lightly soiled-but very little and 90% could be washed out /vacuumed by hand.
These bags are also equally
superb
tools for sail makers or gun owners doing precision bench shooting and want to weight down their front / rear gun rest.
